Juergen Wasem (*1959) has studied economics, political science. His PhD was in health economics (1986) and in public health (1996). Since 2003 he is professor for health services management at University Duisburg-Essen, Germany. Within university he is responsible for the masters program on health services management and chair of the examinations board. Former university positions were professor for health economics at LMU University Munich (1997-1999) and professor for health care management at University Greifswald, Germany (1999-2003).
Juergen Wasem had a variety of positions in the German health care system: From 2015 to 2019 he was unpartial chairperson of the AMNOG Drug Price Arbitration Board. Since 2020 he is chairperson of the Arbitration Board on Prices for Digital Health Apps in Social Health Insurance. Since 2007 he is chairperson of the Arbitration Board on the fee schedule of physisians (EBM).
Juergen Wasem has long experience in consulting politicians and stake holders in the field of health care financing, drug policy (HTA, pricing), and hospital financing schemes.
